Jai Guru Hanuman, Karya Siddhi Hanuman-ji
With the back-to-school spirit in high gear, August was a busy month in the community and at the Temple. The second annual KSHT Health Fair was held on August 25th. This year's turnout - both of volunteer physicians and fair attendees - surpassed the marks set in its inaugural year!
The KSHT Health Fair served over 300 people with over two dozen doctors volunteering their services. The Centennial Medical Center and its wonderful staff came forth with gusto and brought enough blood testing supplies to meet the demand at the Temple health fair. Our heartfelt thanks goes out to all of them and to the physicians, dentists, nurses and medical personnel who made this fair a success. Many thanks to the volunteers who...
- made fresh food to feed the fasting folks at the fair
- transformed each classroom at the Temple into multiple examination & consultation rooms
- help guide the attendees and make them feel at home while at the fair. The KSHT Youth group lead the way in this critical duty.
- worked hard to complete the many action items that make a fair of this magnitude possible!
Kudos to all the volunteers at this important community service event. To view photos from the KSHT Health Fair, click here.

Per Devotees' Request:
This year a limited number of Clay Ganaptis WILL be available at the Hanuman Temple.
Each clay Ganapati will is hand made from a specially designed mold imported for the Ganesh Chaturthi 10 day festival at the Karya Siddhi Hanuman Temple.
Ganapatis made from clay are the only ones that will be accepted for Visarjana on the last day of the festival. Please do not bring Ganapatis of any other type as they are not biodegrable and are unsuitable for proper Visarjana. We do not want to disappoint anyone but please adhere to the guidelines.
To reserve your Ganapthy clay, send your contact information via an email to the Temple at puja@DallasHanuman.org.
Clay Ganapatis will be available for pickup starting September 15 on a first come basis.

Meaning behind the tradition
The worship of the Almighty in Sanatan Dharma may be through the 'Saa-kaar' (with form) or the 'Nir-aakaar' (formless). The nir-aakaar method requires no physical depiction or object. The Saa-kaar method requires a 'physical medium' through which the Almighty is venerated and worshiped.
This 'physical medium', moorti, can be made of any of the five elements (earth, water, air, fire and ether) or a combination of them. It could be a simple sign inscribed with vermillion, turmeric or flour on a platter (thaali) or on a raised surface, representing the celestial bodies, as seen during a Puja ceremony.
According to Puranic texts, Devi Parvati moulded the form of Ganesh from her own body. She then invoked her consort, Lord Shiva to breathe life into the then inanimate sculpture. In many ways, the current process of creating Lord Ganesh harkens back to His actual birth as described in our scriptures with Devi Parvati depicted as Mother Earth and the clay we used symbolising her body which was originally used to sculpt Ganapati.
On the tenth and final day of the festival , the clay embodiment of Ganesh is respectfully requested to depart (visarjan) and the remaining inert depiction is submersed into water.

|Share Your Food (SYF)
Help yourself while helping the Needy
HH Sri Swamiji has created the 'Share Your Food' (SYF) vrata.
For the SYF vrata, on every Tuesday, make the pledge to fast for one meal either breakfast, lunch or dinner. That skipped meal must reach a hungry mouth! Set aside the food or money from that skipped meal (for those who cannot fast due to health reasons) to give to your local food banks or other worthy organization. The Temple can help you route your donations.

Sri Swamiji Says
Divine Guidance for Devotees
Our life is a concert which is capable of producing melodious music. All that we have to do is to keep the 'organs' trim and tuned properly. He, who has created this world and us and is sustaining it, is a Master musician. He is ever playing soulful and enchanting music. We have to train ourselves to listen to that delightful music and render ourselves instruments for the expression of that Divine music. This is the secret of establishing harmony and balance of life.

Question: Does man have any free will or is everything pre-destined?
Sri Swamiji: 'Free will' holds the field in association with individuality. As long as individuality lasts there is free will. Scriptures say, "direct your free will in the right channel. Find out to whom free will or destiny matters. These two must be transcended".
-- Parama Pujya
